January Competition

24/01/2024

Last night was a very successful Competition night with a massive 77 entries; 47 Architecture and 30 Open. It was judged by Ian Gearing from Brean. He managed to race through the entries and as requested held back 10 images in each competition. I have his judging notes so if anyone wants a copy please email me and I will forward you a copy.

It was fantastic to have so many members present and entering their pictures. Getting out there and taking your pictures is what is important and it was lovely to see the wide range of subjects and compositions.

That said here are the results. Many congratulations to Lynne Thomas (2x 1st Place, 2x HC), Peter Elliston (2x 2nd Place) and Wendy Jennings (3x HC)

'I was born in Zimbabwe, discovered photography whilst doing my Pro Guides licence and found a deep passion for it. Whilst working as a Professional Safari Guide this passion grew and developed. Being in such beautiful and breath-taking surroundings on a daily basis allowed me to develop my unique style. I have continued to develop my photography career since moving to the UK both as a judge and speaker for the PAGB, SPA and NWPA I have become a keen landscape photographer and can often be found in the Scottish Highlands or the Mountains of North Wales. My work has been appreciated by many, appearing in publications such Africa Geographic and National Geographic, Viewbug and 500px as well as being displayed in exhibitions all over the World. I look forward to this post and will try my hardest to fulfil our members photographic appetites'.

See you all next week!
